Redeeming Paths Counseling
Sydney Nadolny, LCMHCA

Hi there! It is a joy to be serving clients at Sacred Haven Midwifery! While the mental health of mothers is at the heart of my practice—allowing me to bring together my specialized training in mental health with my passions as a birth and postpartum doula— As an LCMHCA, I am equipped to work with a wide variety of clients with a plethora of mental health goals, including teens, adults, and couples. I welcome all clients, but due to the intricacies of play therapy, I am not seeing children under the age of 13 at this time.

My experience includes supporting active-duty service members, adoptees and their families, children and teens in therapeutic school settings, military families, mothers in the perinatal period and postpartum, veterans, and victims of domestic violence. I am thrilled to offer counseling through a faith-based lens if it feels like a good fit for you and your mental health goals. I provide a safe, supportive space to process experiences, build resilience, and find practical tools to improve overall emotional well-being. My goal is to help individuals and families thrive at every stage of life!

In counseling,  my approach is flexible and integrative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed CBT, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and other modalities to meet each client’s unique needs.

In our work together, we can focus on the concerns and goals that are most important to you,  including addictions, anxiety, communication skills, depression, grief, PTSD,  trauma, and many other mental health needs. I also provide care for mental health challenges that may develop during pregnancy or postpartum. As a mother myself, I am able to offer a compassionate and informed space to navigate these unforeseen changes.

Beyond healing, counseling can also be a space for growth. I support clients with personal growth, goal setting, and building stronger relationships, whether within marriage, family, or other connections. My hope is that in counseling with me, you begin to feel safe to be fully yourself, understood, respected, and empowered to take the best next step!

I offer counseling with flexible options to meet you where you are—whether that’s telehealth sessions, in-person appointments at Sacred Haven Midwifery, walk-and-talk therapy, or relationship and marriage counseling. For new mothers, I also provide the option of 1–2 in-home sessions during the early postpartum period (birth through 8 weeks) for extra support during this tender time.

Self Pay Explained

Self-pay is a way to pay for counseling services without involving insurance companies and while protecting you, the client! There are several surprising benefits to self-pay, which are explained below.  With self-pay, Sydney does not bill your insurance directly, which offers flexibility and confidentiality.

Confidentiality

Typically, when a counselor bills to an insurance company, they must provide a diagnosis to justify counseling services. This diagnosis can become part of your permanent medical record, and treatment notes must also be shared with insurance companies for payment. Additionally, counselors can be audited by insurance companies, where your notes and assessment are released and read over to ensure compliance with their regulations.

Sydney will not provide any information to any insurance companies, allowing you to keep your personal information confidential. With self-pay, no part of your treatment hinges on your needing a diagnosis or is based on insurance regulations. If you happen to meet the criteria for a diagnosis, it remains confidential between you and Sydney.

Flexibility and Best Practice

When insurance companies pay for counseling sessions, they dictate the length of sessions as well as who is allowed to join, such as family members or significant others. With the self-pay model,  how the session is facilitated and who joins the session is up to you and  Sydney. For example, Sydney could offer flexible session options like “walk and talk” therapy or counseling services in a serene outdoor area due to a lack of insurance involvement. Sydney is able to offer the treatment that fits your needs and is most ethical for you, the client, without fear of denial of your claim!  Sydney can give clients the best possible care if she is able to utilize her clinical instincts instead of being mandated by insurance companies. Please let us know if you have any further questions about this!

Next Steps
  • If you attend a church, consider asking them to sponsor a number of your sessions. Churches will often donate sessions depending on the situation.

  • Consider asking if your insurance could offer reimbursement. How much information is required for reimbursement? This is currently not an option for Tricare clients, unfortunately.

  • If your current financial situation is a barrier to you receiving counseling services, please let us know!
